Since last year, I and my ex-colleagues set up a tradition where we must get together over food during Chinese New Year. Last year we had a dinner together. This year we had lunch instead. We wanted try Poon Choi (big bowl feast), a traditional Cantonese cuisine served in wooden, metal or porcelain bowl. Hence, my colleague suggested that we try Canton Kitchen's Poon Choi. Initially we wanted to order additional dishes but the waiter suggests that we try to finish the Poon Choi we have ordered first and only order additional dishes if it is not enough because there are only 5 of us and the portion is quite big. Usually, waiter will tend to recommend as much dishes as possible but not this waiter. I am impressed by her honesty. Our Poon Choi is too beautiful to be eaten. The ingredients of the Poon Choi which includes pork, chicken, duck, abalone, fish maw, prawn, dried mushroom, bean curd and Chinese radish is nicely arranged in a metal bowl. Besides looking good, the Poon Choi is fairly delicious too! Half way through our meals, everyone started looking for the teapot to refill their empty cups but it was nowhere to be seen. Our teapot went missing! Even the waiter is clueless of where our teapot is. I guess they must have been mixed up our pot of tea with another table when we asked for hot water refill. The waiter is kind enough to make us a new pot of tea. Overall the Poon Choi was delicious and fulfilling. True enough, the 5 of us couldn't finish it. We had a great time catching up over lunch in Canton Kitchen and chatted away for hours.
